Omar Miranda - Founder - Abundant Life Ministries

Omar Miranda received both his B.S. in Psychology and his M.Ed. in Guidance & Counseling from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  He has also received his Initial Certification in School Counseling from the University of West Georgia.  He is a Certified School Counselor at Cartersville Middle School.  Previously, he was a Family Therapist with Transitional Family Services and Alphacare Therapy Services, where he specialized in dealing with families with troubled children and youth, sexual addiction/compulsion, sexual abuse cases, and Hispanic/Cross-Cultural issues.

He holds a certificate in Christian Counseling from the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC).  He is a Certified Christian Counselor and conducts a private practice in Cartersville, Georgia.  He is the Founder of Abundant Life Ministries, a Christian Counseling ministry specializing in sex and pornography addiction, sexual issues, pastoral consultation and counseling with youth and family issues.  He is a member of the Georgia-Cumberland Conference Family Ministries Council, a member of The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC), American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and a member of the Georgia School Counselor’s Association (GSCA).  Omar is also a member of a local civic organization entitled The Bartow County Teen Pregnancy Prevention Task Force.  It is the task force’s mission to educate, inform and advocate for teens and their families in the issues of sex, abstinence, relationships and pregnancy. 

Omar has completed a graduate level certification course entitled “Freedom Begins Here: Diagnosis and Treatment of Sexual Addiction.”  He is also a consultant for Elucida Learning, Inc., a company that specializes in the creation of Distance Learning courses specifically dealing with the issue of sex addiction.  Omar has been interviewed both on local, national and international television and radio on the topic of sexual and pornography addiction.  He is a consultant and presenter for the Georgia Department of Abstinence Education and the Georgia Children and Youth Coordinating Council (CYCC).

Omar has worked with youth and their families for the last 17 years.  Omar’s experiences with youth have run the spectrum; from youth in detention and psychiatric centers to youth in everyday pop culture to Christian youth.  Omar is a Lay Pastor and an Ordained Elder, as well as the Family Life Coordinator in the Cartersville Seventh-day Adventist Church.  He loves to preach and teach the Bible and stays busy conducting seminars and workshops dealing with various counseling, youth, culture, and family-life related issues.

Omar has been a featured presenter for the Family Ministries department at the 2003, 2004 and 2007 Georgia-Cumberland Conference Campmeeting, held at Southern Adventist University, located in Collegedale, Tennessee.  Omar has been the keynote speaker at a Single’s Retreat for the Central Florida Conference of SDAs.  He has spoken and presented at Women’s Ministries events, Family Ministries training events, Youth Ministries Conventions, at Pastor’s and at Men’s meetings.

Omar has been married to his wife, Renee for 10 wonderful years and they have a 5-year old daughter named Isabella and a 1 year-old son named Jackson.  He loves reading, writing, playing the guitar—at which he’s not very good--hiking and camping.
