Omar Miranda received both his B.S. in Psychology and his M.Ed. in Guidance & Counseling from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He has also received his Initial Certification in School Counseling from the University of West Georgia. He is a Certified School Counselor and has worked extensively at public middle schools, high schools & at the University level.

Omar is presently a Behavioral Health Assessor at Floyd Behavioral Health Center, located in Rome, GA. Previously, he has worked as a Family Therapist & Christian Family Therapist, where he specialized in dealing with families with at-risk and troubled children and youth, sexual addiction/compulsion, sexual abuse cases, and Hispanic/Cross-Cultural issues.

He holds a certificate in Christian Counseling from the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). He is a Certified Christian Counselor and founder of Abundant Life Ministries, a private Christian counseling practice in Cartersville, Georgia. Omar’s ministry specializes in sex and pornography addiction, sexual issues, pastoral consultation, and counseling with youth and family issues. He is a member of the Georgia-Cumberland Conference Family Ministries Council, and a past member of AACC, the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), and the Georgia School Counselor Association (GSCA).

Omar is certified in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Sexual Addiction. He is also a consultant for Freedom Begins Here, a company that specializes in the creation of materials and resources specifically dealing with the issues of sex and pornography addiction. He is a Columnist/Writer & Speaker for a youth magazine called Insight and a consultant and presenter for the Georgia Department of Abstinence Education and the Georgia Children and Youth Coordinating Council (CYCC). Omar has been interviewed on local, national, and international television and radio on the topic of adolescent and adult sexual & pornography addiction and various marriage & family issues. He is the Bible teacher of his weekly youth related radio show called What’s Your Problem?

Omar has worked with youth and their families for almost 20 years. Omar’s experiences with youth have run the spectrum; from youth in public and private school, at-risk youth in detention and psychiatric centers to Christian youth. Omar is a Lay Pastor and an Ordained Elder in the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Presently, Omar teaches the senior youth (grades 9-12) at his church, Calhoun SDA Church, in Calhoun, GA and is also on the Youth Leadership Council. He loves to preach and teach the Bible and stays busy conducting seminars and workshops dealing with various counseling, youth, culture, and family-life related issues.

Last year, Omar filmed a series of four programs for the North American Division (NAD) Men’s Ministries Department entitled “Old Man New Man.” The programs can be found at oldmannewman.com. Omar has also been a keynote and retreat speaker.

Omar has been married to his wife for 13 wonderful years and they have a 8-year old daughter and a four year-old son. Omar loves singing, reading, writing, hiking and camping—he’s also trying to learn to play the guitar, but he can’t get used to the bloody fingertips!
